Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo has sent Real Madrid fans home happy with his last-minute winner against Manchester City at Santiago Bernabeu.

Jose Mourinho’s side defeated Roberto Mancini's side 3-2 in Group D of the Champions League on Tuesday.

Substitute Edin Dzeko put City ahead 23 minutes after the break, but Real equalized on the 75th minute when Brazilian defender Marcelo moved onto his right foot to curl a shot in from 25 yards.

City was once again ahead when Alexsandar Kolarov on the 84th minute took advantage from a free-kick wide on the right that evaded Iker Casillas in the Madrid goal.

However, Man City’s lead was short lived during a crazy final five minutes. It was another substitute Karim Benzema who turned well before shooting to level on 86 minutes.

The dramatic moment happened when Ronaldo finished it off with the last minute winner.

Paris St Germain players were the biggest scorers on the night, thumping Dynamo Kiev 4-1 in Group A.

Malaga put its financial worries to one side with a 3-0 home win over Zenit St Petersburg in Group C.

There were away wins for Arsenal, who came from behind to win Montpellier 2-1, and Schalke 04, who won Olympiakos Piraeus 2-1 also in Group B, while Porto won 2-0 at Dinamo Zagreb in Group A.

Borussia Dortmund began with a 1-0 win over Ajax Amsterdam in Group D while the Group C match between AC Milan and Anderlecht ended in a 0-0 draw at the San Siro.
