Dockers have brought most of Portugal’s ports to a standstill in an attempt to make the government in Lisbon reverse a new labour code meant to relax employment regulations.
Leaders of the dock workers' union Oficiaismar said on Monday that the ports of Lisbon, Setubal, Sines and Aveiro on the Portuguese mainland were hit as a result of the walkout over working conditions and job cuts, AFP reported.
Oficiaismar official Carlos Coutinho stated that cruise lines had to change their schedules because of the strike.
