Egyptian protesters chant anti-US slogans in front of the US embassy in Cairo after tearing down the US flag, September 11, 2012.
A senior Iranian lawmaker says US President Barack Obama must apologize to all Muslims of the world for production of an anti-Islam film in the United States that insults Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
“US President Barack Obama must apologize to all Muslims of the world and prevent distribution of this offensive film by issuing an immediate order,” Chairman of Iran Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Wednesday.
The Wall Street Journal
reported on Tuesday that the blasphemous movie is called Innocence of Muslims
and has been produced by the anti-Islam Israeli-American Sam Bacile.
Bacile, 52, is a real estate developer living in southern California and a sworn enemy of Islam.
The report added that, Bacile has assumed responsibility for the film, which he said was made thanks to Jewish donations totaling USD 5 million.
The anti-Islam movie has sparked outrage in the Muslim world, leading to massive demonstrations in Egypt and popular protests in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi in which US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other embassy staff were killed.
Referring to protests in Libya and Egypt, Boroujerdi said the reaction of people in the Muslim countries shows that the West’s policy to corrupt and weaken the religious beliefs of Muslim nations has failed.
“Today the wave of Islamic Awakening has begun in the world and those in the US who try to douse the burning flames of this awakening by such plots as producing these films are mistaken,” the Iranian lawmaker concluded.
