A small passenger plane has crashed in far-eastern Russia, leaving ten people dead, including a child, and four others injured, Russian officials say.

The Russian-design Antonov An-28 plane went down near the village of Palanka in Kamchatka Peninsula early Wednesday.

The aircraft had 14 people on board.

“Ten bodies were found at the scene of the crash and four injured passengers were being readied to be airlifted to the hospital,” said a spokeswoman for the local emergency services.

There have been no official reports about the cause of the mishap.

Some media outlets said that heavy storm clouds and bad weather may have brought down the plane.
