Iran grabs silver at 2012 Paralympics volleyball

Iran has won a silver medal in the Men’s Sitting Volleyball of the 2012 Paralympic Games after it lost the final to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosnia came from behind to beat defending champion Iran 3-1 at the Excel center in London on Saturday.

The two sides, which enjoyed straight-sets victories in the semifinal, battled for the second time in the tournament. Iran defeated Bosnia 3-1 during the group stages.

Five-time Paralympics champion Iran beat Russia 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 in the semifinal. Bosnia defeated Germany in the semifinal.

Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran were the finalists in 2000, 2004 and 2008, with Iran winning in 2000 and 2008 and Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004.

Iran Paralympics squad currently stands in the 13th place with 22 medals -- nine golds, seven silvers, and six bronze medals.
