A senior Iranian cleric says holding the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Tehran despite foreign threats proves Iran's political power. "Holding the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Iran was a show of power and political maneuver for Iran under conditions that the country is facing various threats. Such moves foil all plots and destroy them,” Tehran's interim Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani said. He added that NAM member states have great power as they account for two-thirds of the UN members as well as two-thirds of the world’s population and energy resources. The senior cleric also emphasized that the NAM movement should become more influential saying, “This movement should be deepened and should move towards providing security in the world.” More than 100 countries are partaking in Tehran’s NAM meeting, which kicked off at the expert level in the Iranian capital on Sunday. The two-day foreign ministerial meeting of the NAM member states wrapped up on Wednesday with member states finalizing a draft document after two days of deliberations. The meeting of the NAM heads of state commenced in Tehran on Thursday with an inaugural speech by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. TNP/SS
