A United States assassination drone attack has killed at least four people in eastern Yemen, a security official say. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the drone targeted a car in the al-Qatn district of the vast Hadramout province, Reuters reported on Wednesday. Witnesses said the vehicle was hit by one of three missiles fired from a plane, adding that charred bodies were pulled from the mangled wreckage afterwards. It was not immediately clear if there were other casualties in the attack. In another drone attack in central Yemen on Tuesday, at least two people were killed when the car they were traveling in was targeted. The US uses drones for combat and espionage missions in several countries including Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Washington claims the unmanned aircraft target militants, but many of the victims turn out to be civilians. The United Nations has declared that the US drone attacks are targeted killings that flout international law. MN/AS
