Syrian security forces have clashed with foreign-sponsored insurgents in the northwestern city of Aleppo.
Fighting was reported near the television and radio stations in the city on Saturday.
Clashes were also reported in the central area of Seif al-Dowla.
The Syrian troops have inflicted heavy losses on the insurgents in Aleppo over the past few days.
In the capital, Damascus, the Syrian state TV said a bomb attack was carried out in the Marja district on Saturday. The bombing was followed by random shootings.
Three small explosions were also reported in Damascus, but there were no reports of casualties.
Meanwhile, Syrian security forces cleared the Ariha district in the northwestern city of Idlib of the insurgents.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on August 1 that the country is engaged in a "crucial and heroic" battle that will determine the destiny of the nation.
