An innocent deaf woman in Tacoma, Washington, has been arrested and handcuffed after she called the police to report an assault in her home,Press TV reports.

The woman, identified as Lashon White, says she used a special video-equipped phone, connected to a TV and a Web camera, to call Tacoma police after she was reportedly attacked by a guest in her apartment.

White, who has been deaf since birth, was told to exit her apartment and wait for two police officers, but within the seconds of running outside she was tased in the ribs and stomach.

Witnesses said the innocent woman began bleeding profusely and the right side of her face swelled up after she hit the pavement following the Taser jolt.

The officers then arrested Lashon on charges of simple assault and obstruction of a public servant, ignoring her attempt to explain that she was deaf. This comes while witnesses also said that Tacoma officers did not use hand signals to communicate with White.

The woman was left in jail for 60 hours without an interpreter- before a city prosecutor reviewed her case and asked for not filing the charges at all.

However, according to Washington state law when conducting an investigation, authorities must appoint an interpreter if a hearing-impaired person is arrested.
