At least four civilians have been wounded in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat during an overnight strike on a civilian’s home by the US soldiers.
The incident happened on Tuesday in the city of Shindand, where US troops fired tear gas and wounded four members of a family.
According to Afghan officials, no Afghan soldier accompanied the US troops during the nighttime attack.
Earlier in the month, two similar operations were reported in Shindand, in which an Afghan teenager was killed and others were arrested.
Hundreds of civilians have lost their lives in US operations in various parts of Afghanistan over the past few months, with Afghans becoming more and more outraged over the seemingly endless number of deadly assaults.
The United Nations announced on February 4 that 2011 was the deadliest year on record for Afghan civilians. The death toll rose eight percent compared to the year before and was roughly double the figure for 2007.
