Secretary General of Iran's Olympics Committee Bahram Afsharzadeh says the UK has refused to grant visas to the Iranian spectators who had planned to cheer on their country’s athletes in London 2012. “The Iranian sports fans have been denied visas for going to the Olympic [games].”Afsharzadeh said Sunday. “Although we began preparations from one year ago, no airline [agency] has succeeded in obtaining any visas,” he stressed. He further called on Iranians abroad, especially those living in Europe and the UK, to go to the Olympic stadiums and arenas and support their country’s athletes. Afsharzadeh added that the Iranian athletic teams will be dispatched to London in six groups on July 23, 24, 25, and 30, and August 1, and 4.
