Nearly 50 productions by directors of 14 countries have been submitted for the first edition of the Tehran International Video Film Festival (TIVFF). According to director of the international section of the festival, Russia and France have the highest number of submitted works with eight films each. “Hungary and Turkey ranked second with seven films each followed by Germany and Italy,” said Ali Hajighasemi. India, the UK, Lebanon, Argentina, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco are the other participating countries. The International Section of the festival will screen a selection of works from around the globe in an attempt to boost cultural relations between the participating countries, Hajighasemi added. The selection committee of this year’s festival is composed of Iranian cineastes Farzad Motamen, Morteza Razzaq-Karimi and Abbas Akbari. TE/TE
