Iran's Esteqlal has thrashed Al-Rayyan from Qatar 3-0 in the AFC Champions League group stage thanks to a double strike by Arash Borhani. The match was held in front of more than 50,000 spectators at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Wednesday. The victory put the Blues in the second place with eight points in the standings. Borhani gave the two-time Asian champions the lead from the penalty spot 22 minutes after the game. In the 77th minute, substitute Esmaeel Sharifat doubled the lead and Borhani scored the third goal by a perfect pass from midfielder Mojtaba Jabbari in the injury time. Esteqlal, Al-Rayyan, Uzbekistan's Nasaf Qarshi, and the UAE's Al-Jazira are in Group A of the AFC Champions League group stage. Al-Jazira leads the group. AGB/AZ
