Two Iranian weightlifters have made a clean sweep of all the available gold and bronze medals in the 85 kg category in the 2012 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
In the Snatch, Kianoush Rostami bagged gold and Sohrab Moradi took away silver. The two Iranian athletes then swapped podium places in the Clean and Jerk after Moradi hoisted 216 kilograms and Rostami conquered the 211-kg barbell.
In the Overall, Sohrabi edged his compatriot to the gold medal with a total of 388 kg. Moradi’s total tally stood at 383 kg.
Sa Jae-Hyouk from South Korea secured the bronze medal in all the three events of the category.
The 2012 Asian Weightlifting Championships kicked off on April 24 and will run until April 30.
With competition having concluded in five of the eight bodyweight categories, Iran stands second in the medal table with a total of nine medals after China which has secured 27.
