For the first time, a poll conducted by Gallup finds that the majority of Americans are blaming US President Barack Obama for the nation's economic problems.

According to Gallup, voters are discontent over how the Obama administration has handled the struggling US economy.

About 53 percent of the participants in the Gallup poll say Obama bears “some of the blame” for the dismal economy, which is the highest number to be of this opinion since he took office in 2009.

29 percent of those who took part in the poll say Obama bears "some blame" while 24 percent consider Obama to deserve "a great deal of blame."

Yet the poll found that nearly 70 percent of Americans think former President George W. Bush is still responsible for the country's current ongoing economic woes.

Obama has repeatedly said that he inherited the struggling economy from Bush, blaming Bush's policies for the current economic situation.

Months before the 2012 US presidential elections, the findings of the poll are a worrying sign for the Democrats who are hopeful of Obama's reelection.
