Iran has mounted a cultural exhibition in the capital city of Tehran to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence Day.
Iran's National Library and Archives Organization (NLAI) director Eshagh Salahi and the Ukrainian ambassador to Tehran attended the opening ceremony held on Saturday, Fars News Agency reports.
Visitors can see and purchase Persian and English book about Ukraine, the Ukrainian embassy's books in Iran, Iran-Ukraine joint stamps, as well as some political documents about Ukraine.
“Ukraine declared independence on August 24, 1991 and Iran was one of the countries that immediately approved Ukraine as an independent country,” Salahi stated adding that Iran and Ukraine have cultural, geographical and political commonality.
Ukraine's Independence Day is considered the main state holiday in the country, which is celebrated annually on August 24.
