A senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has reiterated Iran's support for Lebanon's Hezbollah and the Palestinian Hamas movement.

Iran pledges full support for the Lebanese and Palestinian resistance movements, IRNA quoted Gholamali Haddad-Adel as saying upon a visit to southern Lebanon on Monday.

Haddad-Adel, who is also the former Iranian Parliament (Majlis) speaker and a top lawmaker, was heading a parliamentary delegation during the visit to south Lebanon areas.

The Islamic Republic officials have on different occasions expressed support for Hezbollah and Hamas as the resistance movements have been 'defending their countries' territories.'

The Iranian official also referred to the “full awakening” of people in the Middle East and North Africa, which has swept the regions over the past months.

In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has swept the Arab world.

In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year rule of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of authoritarian rule.

Other revolutions have erupted in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while anti-government unrests have swept Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and Algeria.
