Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has slammed western countries for violating the rights of religious and ethnic minorities.
"Some western governments play advocate of human rights and allege that they are seeking to restore people's rights in Islamic countries while they ignore the rights of minorities living in their own countries," Mottaki added.
He made the remarks while addressing a convention of the Assyrian World Community in Tehran on Wednesday.
He referred to Iran's full respect for the rights of minorities and said Iran could be cited as an example in this regard.
Mottaki criticized the violation of minorities' rights in the West, citing the discriminatory behavior of Western states toward the Muslim women who are willing to observe the Islamic code of dress.
