Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Israel is a regime born out of “several hundred years of plotting” to provide the West with a stronghold in the Middle East.
“Many Western colonialists who aimed to gain domination over Muslim nations … but failed to gain long-term and permanent control, effectively established a base in the region” through creating the Israeli regime, ISNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying on Tuesday.
The West is using Israel to “constantly sow discord among nations in the region in order to keep its grip over it,” he added.
The remarks were made during a meeting with a group of Turkish supporters of Palestine.
“If a nation wishes to live independently and free of corruption and consider its national interests,” it will be pressured by Israel, Ahmadinejad said.
The Iranian president said for Israel and its Western allies scorning God and divine prophets is considered part of an individual's freedom, whereas speaking against Israel is forbidden and carries punishment.
“The goal of creating the Zionist regime is to rage war, occupation and violation [of nations' rights], and the day when this regime fails to do these things is the day of its demise,” he said.
Resistance against Israel means defending the nations of the world, since Israel's behavior is an offense to all nations, the Iranian chief executive said.
He said that the two nations of Iran and Turkey are creators of history and civilization, and that they can create a massive power in the world if they remain in each others' sides.
Currently, Turkish President Abdullah Gul is in Iran on a four-day official visit, heading a high-ranking 135-member delegation of ministers, industrial entrepreneurs, and businessmen.
