Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi
The main aim of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon is to strengthen the Lebanese national unity, Iran ambassador to Lebanon says.

Emphasizing "army-resistance-people" formula, Ghazanfar Roknabadi added that another objective of the president's visit is to focus on the Lebanese consensus on the “resistance” part of the framework.

"And we should also add the “government” factor to the formula, Roknabadi said in an interview published on Thursday by An-Nahar newspaper.

“Iran stands on the side to Lebanon as Lebanon has the right to wage resistance against Israel, the source of all calamities in the region,” the Iranian diplomat said.

President Ahmadinejad plans to pay an official visit to Lebanon in October, the first of its kind since he was first took office in 2005.

The Iranian chief executive is expected to meet with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri as well as leaders of the Hezbollah resistance movement.
