A number of bombing attacks have rocked Baghdad, leaving at least three people killed and dozens more injured in the Iraqi capital.
An explosive-geared vehicle was detonated near a bus terminal in the south Baghdad neighborhood of Bayaa Wednesday morning, quickly followed by a roadside bomb, AFP reported.
The twin blasts took the lives of two people and wounded more than 20 others, including 10 members of the Iraqi security forces, according to sources in the interior and defense ministries.
Two almost simultaneous roadside bombs went off on al-Sheikh Omar Street in the center of the capital, killing one person and wounding 12 others.
Figures released by Iraqi officials indicate a spike in violence in Iraq in recent months, with July and August getting the highest monthly death tolls since mid-2008.
