'Iran imposes no limitation on newspapers'

Iran has imposed no restriction on newspapers in publishing reports about the recent unrest in the country, an Iranian official says.
Deputy Culture Minister Ali-Reza Malekian, who oversees the Iranian newspapers, added that all claims that Iran has imposed limitations on the activities of the local media are "sheer lies".
"I deny remarks by those who claim that local newspapers in Iran are under pressure about publishing the recent incidents," Mehr news agency quoted Malekian as saying.
"The ongoing developments are reflected by news outlets and news agencies but the difference between their news coverage and that of the foreign media is that the local media take the national interests into consideration but the foreign media don't care about our national interests," he added.
"Foreign media aim at provoking the chaos in Iran by turning a blind eye to the media ethics and by publishing fake news," the Iranian official concluded.
