At least 20 people have been killed in Iran's post-election violence.
Mir-Hossein Mousavi's website claims that the gathering outside Iran's Parliament (Majlis) building is not called by the defeated presidential contender.

Following reports that supporters of Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi -- another defeated candidate -- have staged an illegal gathering outside the parliament building on Wednesday, Mousavi's website Kalemeh denied that he is behind the move.

"This gathering has no link, whatsoever, to Mr. Mousavi and his camp, and is held independently," kalemeh.ir reported on Wednesday.

Despite an official ban on any gatherings by the Iranian authorities, opposition rallies were held during the past week in protest at the presidential election results, which declared incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner with almost two-thirds of votes.

Karroubi had earlier called on the public to attend a Thursday mourning ceremony for those killed in post-election violence in Tehran. However, the website of the National Confidence Party, headed by Karroubi, said on Wednesday that the ceremony will not take place as organizers were unable to find a proper place for it.

Both the Iranian police and the country's Revolutionary Guards Corps have said they would deal firmly with any 'illegal gatherings'. The streets of the capital Tehran have been relatively calm over the past three days.

Separately, an Iranian lawmaker was quoted by Fars news agency as saying that Mousavi 'should be prosecuted' as his statements have resulted in 'unrest and chaos' in the country.

"His provocative statements question the whole system," said Ali Shahrokhi, the head of the Iranian parliament's judiciary commission.
