One of Iran's presidential candidates, Mir-Hossein Mousavi described the officially declared results of yesterday's presidential vote a 'sleight of hand' by those in charge of the election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, he rejected the partial results of the poll as they were officially announced, and said he will unveil the “secrets” behind "this perilous charade.”
Mousavi lost Friday's vote by a landslide to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, according to official figures. These figures, released by the Interior Ministry's Election Commission Headquarters, indicate that the incumbent president Ahmadinejad secured around 65 percent of the votes and Mousavi managed only about 32 percent.
Iran's Guardian Council, which supervises elections, says the voter turnout for the presidential election was around 85 percent, describing people's participation as “unprecedented.”
