Iran's former nuclear chief negotiator has called on the incumbent president to prevent the media from publishing "false" reports about the country's nuclear case.

In its second statement, the Center for Strategic Research, headed by former nuclear chief Hassan Rowhani, called on the Ahmadinejad administration to denounce "false" accusations against former governments and their nuclear policies.

As his battle for re-election intensifies, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad continues to criticize the previous administrations for 'making compromise' with the West over the country's nuclear program.

Rowhani, a representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran's National Security Council, however, seeks to prevent what he calls a smear campaign against former nuclear teams.

In the statement, Rowhani said the nuclear achievements of Iran have been made possible by the sacrifice made by the nation and the scientists who developed the technology.

He also took a swipe at the president for belittling the sanctions resolutions imposed by the UN Security Council against Iran over its nuclear program.

President Ahmadinejad has on occasions termed the nuclear issue a "closed case" and has dismissed the UN sanctions.
