Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has praised Iran's efforts for the reconstruction of Iraq and its support for the Iraqi government and nation.

“The Iraqi government and nation, supported by their friends, is trying to establish security in Iraq and to develop the country,” IRNA quoted Zebari as saying in a meeting with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday.

Iraq's top diplomat arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for a two-day official visit to discuss the latest regional and international developments with Iranian officials.

During the meeting, Ahmadinejad stated that the factors behind the insecurity in Iraq should be dealt with.

The Iranian president added that the presence of the “aggressor powers in Iraq will pave the way for interference in Iraq's internal affairs.”

Ahmadinejad also called for the “rapid implementation” of all agreements between Iran and Iraq.
