The last Iranian Prime Minister Mir-Hossein Moussavi has officially announced his bid to run in the country's upcoming presidential race.

"I announce my intention to run in the 10th presidential election hoping to fulfill my duty," he said in a statement released on Tuesday.

Moussavi, a member of Iran's Expediency Council, runs on the Reformist platform and is a member of the National Confidence (Etemad-e-Melli) Party. He is the third candidate from the Reformist camp to contest presidency.

Karroubi, who heads the Reformist Etemad-e Melli (National Confidence) party, and the former Iranian President Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, two Reformist figures in the country, have so far announced their official decisions to run for president.

The incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is believed to be the main contender from the Principlist camp to challenge the Reformists in the country's June 12 elections.

Moussavi has repeatedly criticized the government's economic policies in what he called an alms-based economy.
