The new Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva promises to address allegations that soldiers left hundreds of immigrants to die at sea.
"Tomorrow (Monday) I will meet with human rights officials to talk about everything including the violation of human rights and a few current incidents which have been reported," Abhisit told reporters on Sunday.
Asylum seekers from Bangladesh and Myanmar that survived the ordeal accused Thai authorities of detaining them in Koh Sai Daeng, after they washed up on the island on their way to Malaysia.
The rescued migrants, found by the Indian coastguard, say they were beaten by soldiers, tied up, and forced back out to sea in engineless boats with insufficient supplies.
Indian authorities said Sunday that most of the nearly 500 rescued asylum seekers were Rohingyas - a Muslim ethnic minority in Myanmar.
New Delhi, however, has voiced concern about the fate of the remaining migrants allegedly set adrift.
Human Rights groups have criticized Myanmar's Junta for persecuting the Rohingyas and forcing them to seek a better life in Malaysia.
