An official in the Iranian nuclear organization says the country has acquired necessary native knowledge for building nuclear reactors.
Speaking at the first international symposium of nuclear power plants in Tehran, the deputy of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Saeidi said that the country has started building nuclear power plants as well as research reactors.
"Native knowledge is being used in designing as well as construction of these nuclear reactors," he told Fars News Agency on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the head of AEOI, Gholam Reza Aghazadeh said today that Iran seeks producing nuclear electricity as one of its main goals.
Aghazadeh also proposed building joint light-water nuclear plants with the cooperation of neighboring Arab countries and said that Tehran is ready to offer a proposal to the Persian Gulf countries as soon as possible if they are interested.
Iran insists on pursuing its civil nuclear program despite doubts by some Western countries on the peaceful nature of its projects.
