Kenyan and US mothers name their newborn baby boys after Barack Obama in a display of respect for the first African-American US president.
"I promised myself that if Obama became president I would name him Barack," Stephanie Treasure, 28, told the Daily News.
Treasure named her boy, born on Monday in New York, Jordan Barack in celebration of Omaba's landslide victory in the US presidential election.
Another baby Barack - Barack Jeilah - was born in Phoenix, Arizona twelve hours after Obama's victory.
In the meantime, parents across Kenya have named their infants after Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, hoping their children adopt the US president-elect's characteristics.
"I consulted my husband and we agreed the name Barack Obama would be ideal for our baby boy because the whole town and the entire world was very enthusiastic about Barack Obama, and we believe he is a great man," said Kenyan mother Josephine Anyango Anyango, Sky News reported.
Kenya, hometown of Obama's late father, declared Thursday a national holiday in celebration of the Illinois senator's groundbreaking election win on Tuesday.
