EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana has responded to an October nuclear complaint by Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili.
Solana said Thursday that Jalili's letter regarding the UN Security Council's stance on Tehran's nuclear work had raised 'clear and comprehensible questions'.
In a letter to Solana dated Oct. 6, Jalili urged Western countries to use the language of reason and not force when dealing with Tehran's nuclear case.
"It is amusing that the reasonable questions we pose in the course of nuclear talks are always met with pressure rather than logical answers," said Jalili.
Jalili said Iran forwarded a package of practical proposals seven months ago as a framework for addressing common concerns aimed at paving the way for justice, peace and harmony.
"It is clear that the acceptance of this proposal and in turn not losing out on the time and the opportunity to avoid illogical behavior, could have given us a solid base for constructive cooperative relationships," said the Iranian official.
Solana said the letter was a 'constructive step' in clearing any remaining ambiguities about the objectives of the Iranian uranium enrichment program.
