'Obama's victory shows Bush's failure'

Senior Iranian politician has described Barack Obama's victory in the US election as a sign of the Bush administration's failing policy.
"Americans are forced to change their policy to save themselves from the quagmire that Bush has created for them. Obama's understanding of this reality allowed him to choose 'Change We Need' as his campaign slogan," former Iranian parliament speaker and current lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said on Wednesday.
"The victory that this slogan brought was an acknowledgement of the American people that Bush's policies had failed," he added.
Haddad-Adel said the next US president must undo Bush's mistakes to prevent the US from 'sinking deeper into internal crisis and attracting more hatred on the international scene.'
The main difference between the policies that Senator Barack Obama pursued on Iran during his campaign and those of his Republican rival, John McCain, was that Obama said he would engage in talks with Iranian leaders 'without preconditions.'
This is while a leading US think-tank has advised the next president to take military action against Iran if Tehran does not give in to diplomatic and economic pressure over its nuclear activities.
A military option must 'remain a last resort to turn back Iran's nuclear development', said a task force sponsored by the Bipartisan Policy Center.
