A new poll shows Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama is leading over his Republican rival Sen. John McCain in seven key Hispanic States.
The poll says US voters coming from Latin America in seven US major states are for Obama, the latest poll from 'Newlink Research' in Miami reported Saturday.
Obama won 63 percent of Latino support while MacCain gained only 27 percent of voters' support in Hispanic states including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The research found that Hispanic population in the United States mind issues such as health, employment, and education, and believe a change in the White House may improve their situation.
According to a recent survey conducted by Pew Hispanic Center and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, more than one-fourth of Hispanics in the United State lack a regular health care provider, or obtained no health care in the past year.
Obama came first 49 percent of Hispanics surveyed in Florida and McCain enjoyed 43 percent with a margin of error of 3.75 percentage points.
In the past two elections, Florida's Hispanics had voted for Republican presidential candidates who failed to materialize their basic needs.
Professor Eduardo Gamarra a chief researcher at Florida International University in Miami said this shift shows enthusiasm for Obama has grown significantly since Sen. Hillary Clinton left the race.
