Researchers have invented new glasses embedded with a telescope which improves driving abilities in individuals with impaired vision.

According to a study published in the Journal of Biomedical Optics, the new glasses help individuals with poor vision to easily perform activities requiring sharper distance vision.

Compared with the existing biotic telescopes which are mounted on glasses, the new glasses are almost identical to ordinary spectacles and much easier to use, Science Daily reported.

The study shows that the new glasses provide individuals with an unmagnified and unobstructed view, leading to safer and more facilitated navigation.

Moreover, unlike available glasses, individuals are not forced to rapidly tilt their heads up and down to view magnified and unmagnified scenes through the telescopic eyepiece.

Schepens Eye Research Institute scientists concluded that the in-the-lens design of the new glasses not only improves the appearance and usefulness of the device, but also makes possible the mass-production of the telescopic magnifier as a standard blank lens.
