A senior Iranian military official says the upgraded and recently test-fired Shahab-3 missiles have a longer range than 2,000 kilometers.
“The newly tested Shahab-3 ballistic missiles can reach up targets more than 2000 kilometers away. They notably enjoy a high degree of accuracy,” Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Nasrallah Ezzati told Fars News Agency on Monday.
The general added that Iran's armaments and missiles are manufactured 100 percent by Iranian experts and the country sees no limit for their mass production.
Ezzati highlighted that various types of advanced surface-to-sea, sea-to-sea, shore-to-sea, surface-to-surface missiles represent Iran's efficient and accurate missile capabilities.
Iran launched a new military maneuver in response to recent US and Israeli threats against the country. The war game came after Israel carried out a military exercise widely speculated as rehearsal for a potential strike on Iran's nuclear installations.
The Iranian general highlighted that Iran's missile capabilities will be used to protect the nation from invaders and to establish power balance in the region in favor of Iran.
The new version of the Shahab-3 missiles, tested last week during Great Prophet III war games, were previously believed to have a maximum range of 2,000 kilometers.
