As violence continues in Iraq, unknown gunmen have kidnapped 11 Turkmen Shias in a district in northern Baghdad, Iraqi police has announced.

The insurgents abducted the men from Jebel Hamrin district, 110 km south of Kirkuk, Monday night, DPA reported. The Shia abductees are believed to be education staff in Tikrit, the police added.

Sources say violence in different parts of Baghdad also left 22 Iraqis dead and dozens injured on Monday.

Iraqi police discovered tens of unidentified bodies dumped in west of Baghdad which have been taken to the Coroner's office for identification.
