US troops have opened fire on a vehicle near the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, killing at least one person and injuring several others.

One person was killed and two or three others were wounded when American troops started shooting at the car from inside their armored vehicles, informed sources told IRNA on Monday.

Anonymous security sources also said that several of the victims were members of the Afghan intelligence force.

Shooting broke out between the Afghan security forces and US troops after the Americans opened fire, the sources added.

Following the incident, all roads leading to embassy were closed off.

Afghan Interior Ministry Spokesman Zemari Bashary confirmed that the shooting had taken place, but declined to comment on the number of victims, saying that the figure would be released later on.

The incident occurred just after a deadly explosion outside the Indian Embassy, which left a least 40 people dead and 141 others wounded.
