Libertarian candidate Bob Barr has encouraged Ron Paul to 'continue his fight', suggesting a possible alliance with the Republican.

"Congressman Ron Paul has fought tirelessly in both the Libertarian Party and the Republican Party to minimize government power and maximize individual liberty," Barr said Friday.

"I want to thank him for all that he has done for liberty in this nation, and encourage him to continue his fight through whatever avenues he sees fit," added the former six-term Georgia Republican congressman.

Barr made the remarks after Ron Paul praised the Libertarian during his speech on Thursday when he ended his run for presidency.

Barr believes if Paul's supports back his campaign, it would help him reach the 15 percent in national polls he believes he needs to qualify for presidential debates to go against presumptive Democratic and Republican presidential nominees, senators John McCain and Barack Obama.

Some 1.1 million Americans voted for Ron Paul during the Republican primaries.
