Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says the Hezbollah resistance movement poses the greatest threat to the US' national security.

"Someone described Hezbollah like the A-team of terrorists in terms of capabilities, in terms of range of weapons they have, in terms of internal discipline," Chertoff told FOX News on Thursday. "To be honest, they make al-Qaeda look like a minor league team."

"They have been more disciplined, and they've been in some senses more restrained in the kinds of attacks they carry out ... in recent years, but that's not something we can take for granted," he warned, speaking before the opening of a two-day terrorism forum in al-Qods.

The remarks were made as analysts say the US and Israel are planning to disarm the resistance movement.

Israel launched a 33-day war against the group in summer 2006 in a bid to destroy the military power of the group but the movement emerged 'stronger than before' after the war.

Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah had earlier said that it was an honor for the movement to be considered by US President George W. Bush as an enemy.
