IAEA boss Mohamed ElBaradei says recent talks with Iran about its 'alleged studies of weaponization' have resulted in 'good progress'.
"To verify Iran's past and present activities, we have made good progress," the UN nuclear watchdog chief said Wednesday in a joint conference with European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso.
"Right now we have a team in Iran which is working with the Iranian authorities to clarify [the alleged studies]," ElBaradei added.
Washington and its allies accuse the Islamic Republic of pursuing nuclear weaponry. Iran, however, insists its nuclear activities are solely aimed at producing electricity.
"I very much hope that Iran will continue to work closely with us to demonstrate full transparency because the more transparency we get the more assurance we can provide," ElBaradei continued.
The talks between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency began on April 21 and are aimed at investigating Western allegations that Tehran had conducted studies on how to design a nuclear weapon.
