Beijing has announced G5+1 and EU officials will meet in Shanghai on April 16 to discuss resuming talks on Iran's nuclear program.
The permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (G5+1) and EU officials will gather in Shanghai to discuss “plans to resume talks on the Iranian nuclear issue and promote a resolution of the matter through diplomatic negotiations,” the Chinese foreign ministry said on Tuesday.
Beijing expressed hope that the talks would have 'positive results'.
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday announced plans to install 6,000 new centrifuges in Natanz nuclear facility in the current year.
Western countries believe Tehran will use its nuclear independency to develop nuclear weapons.
Tehran, however, has repeatedly said that its enrichment program is solely aimed at producing nuclear fuel for its under-construction power plants and weapons of mass destruction have no place in its defense doctrine.
