An Iranian military commander says the country is seeking to develop and enhance its ballistic missile and air defense capabilities.

Tehran has taken measures to achieve its military goals in the new Iranian year, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari told reporters Wednesday.

Commander Jafari added that Iran's national security is at its highest level in the country's history.

"By achieving its new goals, the IRGC seeks to further improve national security," Maj. Gen. Jafari concluded.
