Iran's Envoy to Japan Abbas Araqchi
Iran's envoy to Japan says Iran seeks peace in the region, considering development and welfare of regional states as that of its own.

Seyyed Abbas Araqchi made the remarks at the Investment Promotion Forum of Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East in Tokyo on Wednesday.

The Iranian ambassador added that the security and economic development of the Middle Eastern and Persian Gulf littoral states are closely intertwined.

Elaborating on the strategic and geopolitical situation of the Islamic Republic, Araqchi stressed that Iran is located in the heart of a market populated by 300 million people of the Middle East, the Persian Gulf and Central Asia.

He also explained Iran's capabilities and potential for attracting Japanese companies' investments in oil and gas, communications, transportation, services as well as light and medium industries.

Commenting on recent UN anti-Iran resolutions, the Iranian diplomat said, ”According to previous experience, such resolutions don't affect Iran's economic activities, particularly in the oil and gas, trade, attraction of foreign investment or Iranian private sector cooperation."

Inviting Japanese companies to invest in various economic fields in Iran, Araqchi pointed out that the current economic opportunities are not permanent in Iran.

The one-day forum kicked off in Tokyo on Wednesday, March 5 with the participation of 400 Japanese managers. Representatives of 18 other countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Syria, Algeria and Jordan also took part.
