The Washington based Brooks Sport Inc. is slated to introduce an eco-friendly breed of running shoes, which biodegrade in 20 years.

BioMoGo, which will be introduced in July, is made from a nontoxic natural additive that speeds up the anerobic microbe break down.

Most traditional athletic shoes are made with ethylene vinyl acetate midsoles, which last up to 1,000 years.

By introducing its environment-friendly product, Brooks will save 29.9 million pounds of landfill waste over the course of 20 years, the ABC news website reported.
