Iran's Parliament Speaker has met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in a sign of thawing ties between the two Muslim nations.

No details on the meeting between Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel and Egypt's President have yet been revealed, Press TV correspondent Saman Kojouri said on Wednesday.

The officials were scheduled to hold a press conference in Cairo.

Both Iran and Egypt have been voicing their readiness to resume diplomatic relations in a bid to address the problems of the Muslim world.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were severed after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran over various issues, including Cairo's ties with Israel.
