Veiled women may be banned from voting in Canada.
A new draft law has been submitted by the Canadian government requiring Muslim women to lift their face veils if they wish to vote.

Canadian conservative government has brought in new legislation calling for Muslim women to take part in elections unveiled, saying visual identification will help counter voter fraud.

The government decided to take matters into its own hands, after having disagreements with Elections Canada, which is an independent election agency that ensures that the Canada Elections Act is enforced.

If the bill is adopted, the staff of Elections Canada will take veiled voters to separate rooms and ask them to show their faces before voting.

The bill provides an exception for facial bandages, however. Such voters either need a qualified elector to vouch for them or they must show two proofs of identity.
