A senior Iranian cleric says the recent remarks made by the Leader were affirmation of a universal wish to bring George Bush to justice.

"Recent polls have revealed the extent of the globally felt hatred for George Bush and his administration. More than one million people worldwide are known to have signed a petition demanding that George Bush be tried,” Ahmad Khatami, a senior cleric and member of the Assembly of Experts, said in an interview with Mehr News Agency.

"Not only do the remarks made by Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, echo a heart-felt demand of the Muslim world, but they also reflect a globally expressed wish. He should be put on trial for the crimes he has committed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the crimes committed by the Zionist regime should also be added to the list of Bush's crimes, considering that the regime enjoys the full support of the American president," Khatam added.

In case a fair international tribunal is set up to bring Bush to book, such crimes would certainly serve as a damning indictment, he said.

It is our hope that the persistent demand throughout the world, coupled with support from responsible media, will make Bush's trial a reality soon, the senior cleric concluded.
