Secretary of Pakistan's Ministry of Science and Technology says Pakistan is anticipating the inauguration of Bushehr nuclear power plant.
Pervez Butt made the remark in a meeting with an Iranian media delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Press Affairs, Alireza Malekian.
Pervez Butt said the Bushehr power plant will be the largest nuclear electricity producing center in the region and the Muslim world and that its existence is an honor for all Islamic nations.
He described a peaceful application of nuclear technology for progress and development as Pakistan's general policy.
"Oil and other fuels will be consumed in the future; nuclear energy can remedy the energy crisis in the world," he said.
Pakistani official also pointed to the use of nuclear energy in medicine and agriculture in Pakistan, saying 15 hospitals for cancer treatment and three agricultural centers have been put into operation in the country.
Malekian praised the Pakistani government and nation's support for Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.
He termed Iran and Pakistan as the region's big neighbors and stressed the expansion of ties and cooperation in science, technology and information.
