Scientists warn that even a 10 minute cell-phone conversation can trigger chemical changes in the brain and increase the risk of cancer.

A recent study has shown that even low levels of radiation from handsets interfere with the process of cell division, which promotes the growth of tumors.

Previous studies were unable to link cell-phone use and brain tumors or the increase in cancer rates; there was also no evidence proving the harmfulness of cell-phone signals.

Based on the hypothesis that cell-phones emit too little radiation to dangerously heat the brain, cell-phones were considered to be safe.

However, the new study, suggests that even the 'non-thermal' radiation may be a risk.
