Chairman of the Expediency Council (EC) Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani
Former Iranian President Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has said that any US military attack on Iran will be an act of suicide.

In an exclusive interview with Arabia TV channel on Friday, Chairman of the Expediency Council (EC) Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said the issue is now regarded as a psychological warfare.

"We are now faced with various threats and challenges but we believe we can use our past experiences and scare away the enemies as we have always proved that we are capable of thwarting the plots hatched by the enemies," he said.

Some believe the US current problems in Iraq and Afghanistan could be a source of concern for Iran.

Based on historical experiences, when bullying powers are trapped in a quagmire, they might take any illogical measures to survive, Rafsanjani said.

"I believe the US, UK and their allies are now experiencing a tough time in Iraq and Afghanistan and are seeking to find a way out of the mishap," he noted.

There is no doubt such suicide measures would create problems for both sides but they would be the final losers while their measures would leave devastating consequences on the whole region. There is no doubt that Iran has various options and plans on the table and is capable of counter any attacks, he concluded.
